General Practice Long Service Award

General Practice Long Service Award Overview

The Staffordshire Training Hub proudly launched the General Practice Long Service Award in 2024 to recognise the outstanding commitment and dedication of our General Practice colleagues.

We’re delighted to confirm that since the launch, we have recognised 164 General Practice colleagues with a combined service of 5,687 years!

Who Can Apply?

All Practice and PCN employed clinical and non-clinical, including administration and clerical colleagues working part-time or full-time in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent who have completed 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, or 50 years of service are eligible to apply.

Those who received an award in 2024 or 2025 can reapply, provided they have reached the next milestone.

Staff who have had a break in service (e.g. adoption leave, maternity leave, or sabbatical) are also eligible to apply; however, they must have reached an aggregate of 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, or 50 years of service.

The award counts nurse training schemes completed before 2009 (including Project 2000). From 2009, nursing moved to an all-degree entry route, so service years from this point cannot be included.

Previous service within the wider NHS can be included, provided it hasn’t already been formally recognised.

Apply or Nominate a Colleague

To nominate a colleague or to apply yourself, please email the team at traininghub@gpfirst.net. Once the 2026 round is open, you will receive a notification email with a Nomination Form.

2024

2024 General Practice Long Service Award Presentation Ceremony

All recipients of the 2024 General Practice Long Service Award were invited to Uttoxeter Racecourse for an afternoon tea to celebrate their outstanding dedication to General Practice and the wider NHS.

Each award holder was presented with a certificate of achievement and a commemorative pin badge to honor their long service.

The day was both inspiring and joyful, as we celebrated those who have collectively dedicated an incredible 4,032 years to General Practice and the NHS.
