Overview
The Staffordshire Training Hub recognises the important contribution that internationally qualified GPs make to the Primary Care workforce.
This bursary provides financial support towards eligible Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) application costs for GPs who have secured a substantive post in a General Practice in Staffordshire or Stoke-on-Trent.
Once a fully completed application form and all required supporting documentation have been received, Staffordshire Training Hub will assess the application. The applicant will be notified of the decision and, if approved, advised of the reimbursement arrangements.
Eligibility Criteria
- The ILR Reimbursement Scheme is open to internationally qualified GPs who have completed, or are approaching, CCT and have secured a substantive post in a General Practice in Staffordshire or Stoke-on-Trent.
- Eligible GPs may apply for reimbursement of their own ILR application costs, up to a maximum of £3,000. Costs relating to partners, dependants or other family members are not eligible for reimbursement.
- From September 2026, eligible ILR costs incurred within the two months immediately before the applicant’s CCT date may be considered for reimbursement, provided that all other eligibility criteria are met.
- Applications will only be considered once the GP has achieved CCT and commenced, or formally secured, a substantive post in a General Practice in Staffordshire or Stoke-on-Trent.
- The revised 2026/27 eligibility criteria are not retrospective. Applications previously assessed under earlier scheme criteria cannot be reconsidered under the revised criteria.
