Applications for November 2026 & January 2027 cohorts are now open!
The NHSE Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) Level 7 Accredited Training Programme facilitated via the Staffordshire training Hub (STH), focuses on the four functions of the Advocating for Education and Quality and Improvement (A-Equip) Model; however, the primary focus will be on restorative clinical supervision.
The training will provide the participants with the skills to facilitate restorative supervision to enhance health and wellbeing to colleagues and teams within Primary Care services and beyond.
In addition, the training equips nurses to lead and deliver quality improvement initiatives in response to service demands and changing patient requirements.
This fully funded on-line course will be delivered via a Higher Education Institute (HEI) over a 10 week period with a total of 10 online study days holding 15 credits.

Expectations and Responsibilities Post-Qualifying
Successful completion of the PNA programme is an important step in developing and embedding the Professional Nurse Advocate role within primary care. To support the continued investment in the programme and enable future funding allocations, we ask that successful applicants commit to the following:
- Develop and implement the PNA role within your practice following qualification, working alongside your fellow Primary Care PNAs to develop and strengthen the service.
- Actively contribute to the development of the Primary Care PNA network, sharing learning, good practice and ideas to support the wider implementation of the role.
- Submit accurate monthly PNA activity data to Staffordshire Training Hub to support local monitoring and the national submission of PNA activity.
- Demonstrate the impact and value of the PNA role by contributing relevant feedback, outcomes and examples of how the role has supported staff, patients and service improvement.
The collection and submission of this information is essential to demonstrate the impact and value of the PNA role, support NHS England’s oversight and evaluation, and provide evidence to inform the continued development, sustainability and future funding of the programme.
