Becoming an Advanced Practitioner [AP] offers a valuable and rewarding opportunity to advance your practice and professional autonomy whilst contributing to the provision of quality health care services.
If you are an aspiring advanced practitioner, it is important to understand the expectations and commitment needed to develop and meet the minimum requirements expected of this role. Successful completion of the programme requires balancing the significant commitments of clinical practice, academic learning, and personal life, and it is therefore essential that you consider how you will be able to achieve this.
Before submitting your application, you first need to confirm with your employer that they wish to develop you as a trainee AP, and they have workforce development plans for a prospective AP role for you on completion of training.
The below ‘readiness to’ document has been provided by NHS England to help you assess your readiness to become a Trainee Advanced Practitioner.
