Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Award

Introduction

The Staffordshire Training Hub (STH) has continued to invest in the accredited Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) Award, supporting administrative, clerical, non-clinical and clinical leaders working in General Practice, including PCNs, across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent (SSOT) to undertake a Level 5 Award.

Course Overview

This training programme has been specifically developed for experienced Practice Managers (and equivalent) to develop their leadership skills and enhance team performance within an effective organisational setting.

The programme is tailored for General Practice and Primary Care organisations and will provide delegates with the skills and knowledge required to become effective coaches and mentors. It offers the opportunity to review and reflect on their leadership approach and develop these skills in a structured and systematic way.

Prior to applying, applicants must read the course overview and candidate handbook and ensure they are able to attend all five modules on the dates listed below:

1. Day One: Thursday, 18 June 26 at 0930-1630Hrs (face-to-face in Uttoxeter)
2. Day Two: Thursday, 16 July 26 at 0930-1730Hrs (virtually)
3. Day Three: Thursday, 17 September 26 at 0930-1730Hrs (virtually)
4. Day Four: Thursday, 15 October 26 at 0930-1730Hrs (virtually)
5. Day Five: Thursday, 19 November 26 at 0930-1630Hrs (face-to-face in Uttoxeter)

Once you have discussed your interest in this course with your Line Manager and received approval, please submit a fully completed Application Form to the Staffordshire Training Hub Team at traininghub@gpfirst.net by Monday, 11 May 2026.

The 2026 programme has now been filled; however further cohorts may take place in 2026/27 if there is enough demand and NHSE funding permits.
